THE BLAST GATES

Automatic blast gates are available in sizes 3" and UP, standard configuration or as air tight gates. The standard blast gate has an aluminum housing with a galvanized or SS blade. The air tight blast gate is fully welded, sealed and can be made in galvanized of SS. All blast gates larger than 20" are fully welded.

All blast gates are equipted with 'postive action' air cylinders insuring that the blast gates are completely opened and completely closed. Two cylinders are used on blast gates 10" and larger. The cylinders require 90 psi. Solenoids control the air flow. The solenoids are activated when a switch or a machine is activated.  Solenoids are available in 120V AC, 24 or 12V DC.Solenoids can be wired directly into a switch, a relay on a PLC. K&B also offers a current sensing relay that clamps around one leg of the power and triggers the solenoid when current is flowing.

Use of cut-offs/ blast gates often threatens the integrity of the collection system and can result in poor air flow– especially when the opening and closing of the blast gates is left to the operator. K&B Duct’s automatic blast gates and blast gate systems can provide the solution to these problems by providing automatic opening and closing of the blast gates AT THE RIGHT TIME. Not only can the blast gates increase the efficiency of under-sized systems, they can also make it possible to use smaller systems where only intermittent use is required and thus effectively lower initial cost and operating cost. Or they can be used to lower operating cost of large systems.

A WIDE VARITEY OF APPLICATIONS

K&B Duct’s industrial grade blast gates can be utilized in a variety of ways.
1. BLAST GATES ONLY - NO CONTROLLER - Infinite number of individual blast gates can be opened and closed simply by the turning on and off of a machine, a switch or a sensor.
2. CONTROLLER FOR COLLECTOR MOTOR - Multiple numbers of blast gates can open and close as above, AND with the use of a system controller can also cut on and off the collector fan.
3. VFD (Variable Frequency Drive) CONTROL - Multiple numbers of blast gates are controlled as above with a more sophisticated controller AND a variable frequency drive can control the fan speed, providing the CFM required by the open gates thereby lowering operating cost..
