Whether the air is exhausting directly from a fan or from the collector, exhausted to atmosphere or to the interior of the facility, K&B Duct's Silencers provide effective means of reducing noise.  Air noise results from the vibration of the air as it leaves the unit, resonnating off the solid walls of the duct. The silencers interior is constructed of open expanded metal that is wrapped with 4" of insulation. While in a solid piece of metal the sound waves bounce off the sides, with a K&B Silencer the sound waves pass through the holes and are absorbed by the insulation.  Extreme situations, though rare, can be addressed with multiple, in-line units.
