KEEP DIRTY AIR AND MATERIAL FROM RETURNING TO FACILITY. Backdraft dampers are a one way check valve that only allow the movement of air in one direction. They are constructed with a fully welded 1/4" plate box and heavy internal flap door that closes against the incoming duct. Because the door is so heavy, adjustable counter balanced arms help lift the door when the fan is running thereby reducing static pressure loss and ensuring that the collection system operates in the fashion for which it was designed. When the fan is turned off or when the air is reversed, the flap closes over the inlet. This prevents material or air from being transmitted into the interior of the building. The incoming duct can be of a standard gauge as appropriate to the application. It is recommended that the duct between the Backdraft and the fan/collector be of heavy gauge/flanged construction.
